Year 7 Welcome Mass

Year 7 Welcome Mass

It is now an established tradition for us to celebrate a Mass of Welcome for all Year 7 students and their Parents/Carers. The Mass allows St John’s to formally welcome your child into our school community. After the Mass Parents/Carers will have an opportunity to meet with their child’s Pastoral Tutor to discuss how their child is settling in.

Parents received a letter via the MyEd app, however if you would like more information or to confirm your attendance please contact the school.

The theme of the Mass is 'Who is my Neighbour?' Students have been asked to bring in an item of food e.g. biscuits, small box of chocolates, sweets to make a hamper which will be distributed to those in our neighbourhood who need it the most i.e. Butterwick Hospice, local care home, hospital and parishes. Please can you ask your child to bring in their item before the Mass.

Year 7 will be celebrating their Welcome Mass on the following dates:
SJOHN: Wednesday 4 October at 2pm
MARY: Wednesday 11 October at 2pm

The Source

The Source

Students in Year 9 and above have the opportunity to attend an event called The Source which is led by the Diocesan Youth Ministry Team. The event will take place at St Mary's Cathedral, Newcastle. The sessions give young people from across the diocese the opportunity to celebrate their faith through prayer, music and drama.

The school mini bus will leave St John’s school at 5.00pm and will arrive back at approximately 9.15pm. Students will need to pay £4 each time they attend to help with the cost of transport. Payment can be made via parent pay or by cash or cheque. Students will have the opportunity to go to McDonalds on the way to the Source, therefore they will need to bring some spending money.
The dates for The Source are:
4 October 2017
6 December 2017
7 February 2018
7 March 2018
