Becoming a Parent Governor is one of the most significant ways you can help to promote the partnership between school and home for the benefit of all children in our care. The Governing Body’s main tasks are to ensure that students receive high quality education and to plan for the development of St John’s now and in the future.

 

Once again this year, students and staff at St John’s have worked extremely hard to coordinate this project in school.

Tutor Groups throughout the school were asked to contribute small toys, school supplies, hygiene items, shoeboxes or wrapping paper and during Pastoral Time each group then carefully wrapped and packed shoeboxes with gifts and Christmas messages to support this fantastic charity.

Year 12 students are holding a Charity Christmas fair on 13th December for all students from year 7-10. The nominated charities the Year 12 students have chosen are Cancer research and Project Peru.
Please come along and be part of our Advent Service on Wednesday 30th November, 6pm. The service will be a lovely way to mark the beginning of the season of Advent. 6 Members of staff took part in a week of job shadowing in Galicia Spain to research ways to 'narrow the gap' between our higher and lower achieving students, Such was the success of the programme that the press coverage in Spain was huge. Appeal for supplies for Operation Christmas Child

Since 1990, more than 113 million boys and girls, in over 130 countries have experienced God’s love through the power of simple shoebox gifts collected from local churches and schools by the charity Samaritan’s Purse. Last year we were delighted to help this appeal by collecting and packing over 350 shoeboxes.

Technology is having a huge impact on education and children now have access to many web based resources and comprehensive educational apps in the palm of their hand. It is fundamental that we support children in the safe use of digital technologies. It is important that we too are up to speed with the social networking trends and latest websites.
