Dear Parents and carers,

I'd like to introduce myself as the appointed Family Worker at St Johns. At this time when students in year 6 will soon be making the transition to Secondary school, I appreciate it can feel like a daunting time.

This Summer term has been a time of great celebrations here at St John's. On 25 May 2010, following two days of rigorous inspection by the Ofsted team, the school was proclaimed as 'An Outstanding School'.

Our music department recently hosted a Musical Extravaganza at Bishop Auckland Town Hall. There were performances from St John's Choir, Forte, St Joseph's Primary School, Coundon, Rosa Street Primary School, Spennymoor, Larry and the Penguins as well as a number of solo performances from our very talented students.

We wish you a blessed and happy Easter

Dear Parents/Carers

As we prepare for half term, we would like to thank you for your support during the adverse weather conditions we have experienced since before Christmas. Students have endured long waits on cold mornings for late buses or have had hazardous walks to school through the snow and ice, nevertheless they have been extremely patient and cheerful.

Thank you for your response to the consultation for Proposed changes to the home to school/college transport policy.

There have been an unprecedented number of responses and we await the outcome of the consultation from Durham County Council towards the end of May.
