St John's school trips over the next two weeks include:

  • Project Peru
  • Iceland - Geography
  • Barcelona - Art and Music
  • Kingswood Outdoor Pursuits - Years 7 and 8
  • Catholic Partnership Athletics

The 5th Partnership concert at the Sage Gateshead did certainly not disappoint as students from 11 partnership schools combined their talents to provide a wonderful evening of entertainment. Representative musicians from St John’s performed Zadok the Priest by Handel in the collaborative choir.

Students from Year 7 carried out an investigation into river processes as part of the Geography curriculum. This involved a visit to Summerhill Force at Bowlees, a scary crossing (for some!) of the Wynch bridge at Low Force and then on to High Force. Students had a fantastic time and it was a great opportunity to learn Geography outside of the classroom.

St John's School & Sixth Form College
Proudly Presents...
Alan Parker's BUGSY MALONE
July 6th & July 7th
Take the chance to try out the subjects you have selected for study. Talk further to teachers and find out more about the content of the course in assisting you in making your own personal curriculum.

These two days offer an opportunity to experience A Level and BTEC Level 3 lessons as part of a process that helps us, together, make informed decisions on which might be the most suitable and effective courses for you in September.

For this year’s production of Bugsy Malone we need lots of props and costume. We want it to look as realistic and authentic 1920s as possible. If you have any of the listed items at home and you are willing to loan or donate them, please email Miss Bell ( or telephone the school. All items will be well looked after and you can either arrange for them to be dropped off, or picked up in the case of larger items.

A huge congratulations to our fabulous Athletes who have all qualified to represent the District at the County Finals held at Monkton Stadium on 10th June.

Well done to the Under 16 Girls who were runners-up to St Bede's in the County Cup final. They worked really hard against a tough side and were a credit to the school.

What a fantastic Breakfast students had to celebrate National Breakfast week, we had around 35 students attend.

Join us again, on Thursday 25th May 2017 for another fantastic Breakfast club.
