Project Peru is an expedition carried out annually by 30 Sixth Form students and staff from St John's School, Bishop Auckland and which began in 2009. Each year we work in partnership with the local community to carry out a building project and to date we have built classrooms, food kitchens, a bakery for training young people as well as facilities for people with disabilities.

Abby Barnes and Eve Briddick have won a Year 7 Spanish competition to create a Spanish presentation on Free Time.

24 St John's students have had the honour and privilege of representing not only their school and Co Durham but also the nation at the Commemoration of the Centenary of the Battle of the Somme at the Thiepval Monument in France on 1st July. It was a sombre and deeply poignant event throughout which our young people displayed the greatest dignity and respect. A truly memorable and historic occasion which they will remember for the rest of their lives.

An overcast Friday in June saw the bright stars of Year 11 say a farewell to their GCSE years at our annual Celebration Day. The day kicked off with a wonderful Mass, concelebrated by five of our parish priests and well attended by our Year 11 students and staff, and two hundred family members. Formal presentations to the year group were led by our guest speaker, Sara Davies MBE.


Award-winning Canadian musician and songwriter Ian Sherwood is appearing at St John's School and Sixth Form College on Wednesday 8 June at 7.00pm
